Sender Delivery Request
Senders submit delivery requests with full item details, destination, and required delivery window. The platform surfaces matched travelers based on route, departure timing, available luggage capacity, and traveler rating.

A fully live crowd shipping platform where individuals send documents and parcels internationally through verified travelers built across Android, iOS, and Web. This Qootuma case study covers how CodeAegis handled the complete build, from trip-based courier matching and traveler verification to escrow payment integration and real-time shipment tracking across a three-sided delivery marketplace.

Qootuma came to CodeAegis with a product vision built around a simple but powerful observation: millions of travelers cross international borders every day carrying luggage that isn't full. Meanwhile, individuals in Kenya and beyond are paying premium courier rates plus hidden taxes and surcharges. All formalities for sending a document or small parcel abroad. The client's answer was a peer-to-peer delivery app that removes the courier middleman entirely. Senders post delivery requests. Travelers list upcoming flights and available luggage space. The platform connects both with verified identities, escrow-protected payments, and live shipment tracking, ensuring every delivery is safe, transparent, and accountable.

This P2P shipping app development case study involved a product blending community trust, cross-border logistics, and real-time payments.
Standard courier services on routes like Kenya–USA carry heavy tax burdens, opaque pricing structures, and fixed delivery windows that don't serve individuals with urgent or low-volume shipping needs. The market had a clear gap in affordable, flexible, on-demand international delivery.
The entire Qootuma business model depends on senders trusting verified travelers they have never met to carry important documents across international borders. Without a technically enforced trust layer, the platform could not function, regardless of how good the matching logic was.
Releasing payment before delivery is confirmed poses a risk to the sender. Withholding payment without a clear trigger poses a risk to the traveler. The platform needed an escrow system that securely held funds, supported multiple currencies, and automatically released payment.
Senders, Travelers, and Recipients each required distinct onboarding experiences, dashboard states, notification flows, and interaction logic. Delivering a fully operational sender, receiver, traveler three-sided marketplace across Android, iOS, and Web simultaneously.
CodeAegis approached Qootuma as an on-demand marketplace development project requiring equal precision across three domains: logistics matching, financial transaction security, and community trust infrastructure.
The build opened with a structured discovery phase covering traveler-sender matching logic, delivery confirmation trigger design, escrow payment flow architecture, KYC verification requirements, and the full cross-platform technical dependency map. No development work began until every critical decision was documented and aligned with the client.
Three principles governed every subsequent build decision. The trust layer had to be technically enforced at the system level. The trip-based courier matching algorithm had to return accurate, relevant results quickly enough that both senders and travelers would find value immediately.

real-time tracking, escrow payments, and seamless communication.
Senders submit delivery requests with full item details, destination, and required delivery window. The platform surfaces matched travelers based on route, departure timing, available luggage capacity, and traveler rating.
Travelers register upcoming international flights, declare available luggage space, and become visible to active sender requests on matching routes. The luggage space monetization app model means every qualifying trip becomes a documented earning opportunity.
Every traveler completes identity verification before their profile becomes active on the platform. Verification status is displayed on the traveler card visible to senders during the matching process, establishing a baseline of trust before any delivery agreement is reached.
Sender funds are captured and held in escrow at the point of delivery confirmation. Payment releases to the traveler only after the recipient confirms successful delivery on their end. No manual intervention required.
Delivery status updates reflect the traveler's trip progression in real time throughout the journey. Senders and recipients have live visibility into shipment status from pickup through to destination arrival.
Direct in-app messaging handles coordination between senders and travelers on pickup logistics, item handling requirements, and delivery confirmation without either party exposing personal contact information outside the platform.
Each completed delivery generates a rating from the sender. Ratings accumulate on the traveler's public profile and become a primary trust signal for future senders choosing between matched travelers.
The payment infrastructure processes transactions across multiple currencies natively including Kenyan Shilling and US Dollar on the Kenya–USA route. All done without requiring manual currency conversion from either party at any point in the transaction flow.
Senders post requests on mobile and track shipments on the Web. Travelers manage trip listings and incoming delivery requests across Android, iOS, and Web with identical features, real-time data sync, and consistent experience across every platform.
Development ran in structured agile sprints with fixed milestones, client review sessions
at each stage, and documented decision logs maintained throughout.
The platform delivered documented outcomes across delivery cost reduction, traveler monetization, payment security, and logistics reliability.
